The Heuristician, AKA Ruler of Thumbs

Intro

The Heuristician can make lots of decisions--and thrives on it—as long as they are relatively straightforward. He doesn’t suffer from decision fatigue. Just give him the criteria. But don't give him anything complex and important to decide; he can make the decision, but it probably won't be a good one.

Modus operandi:

The Heuristician’s work should:

+lower the cognitive load

+automate the process

+employ experimentation

+value speed over optimization

+lead to immediate action

Favorite--or "go-to" tools (Gadgets/Tech) :

Implementation intentions AKA “if-then” planning. e.g. “If I get out of bed, then I will go for a run.”

"Hand in Hand" w/: (works most / best with other FARMhands):

With/for the Harmonist, the develops this rule of thumb: Make choice that long term will leave you more equanimous (calmer and peaceful). Peace of mind is the precursor to happiness. Happiness cannot be pursued directly; it must ensue.
